Avian Influenza

A huge vote of thanks is due to all those practices who, despite having significant manpower challenges on the home front, have managed to spare some staff to support APHA
in tackling the unprecedented Avian Influenza outbreak throughout the winter months. The work often seems frustrating and accompanied by a heavy dose of paperwork,
but the Authority have generally been enormously impressed and grateful that private practices have been available to help control the disease. There can be no doubt that
the national effort to control bird flu’ underlines the need for private farm practice to remain at the heart of all statutory disease control arrangements in the future.
