Contacting your local ‘case’ vet

APHA are very keen to encourage OVs to contact the local APHA case vet in circumstances where breakdowns prove explosive, persistent or rapidly spreading.
In such circumstances it is felt that effective case conferencing is essential to assist in early resolution of a breakdown. It is also in this type of herd that the new types of test become available in discussion with APHA and this now includes the new phage test when paid for privately.
Concerns regarding data protection mean that vets need their client’s permission to talk about the specifics of the case. You may be able to get your client to call APHA themselves. An alternate approach would be to ask that the XL Farmcare admin team use the two-factor authentication process to confirm that you are connected to the vet practice which, in turn, is associated with the farm concerned. We can then liaise with APHA to open up the conversation as required.
