Health and safety – Aggression

We’d like to remind practices that health and safety does not relate only to handling facilities on farm or issues at the time of the actual test. We have recently had notifications of abusive behaviour from keepers that had not previously been reported. Any aggression, whether verbal or physical, must be reported to Farmcare as a health and safety incident. This is important if relationships break down and a practice is no longer willing to carry out future work, especially in scenarios where the TB test cannot go ahead and Farmcare must escalate the issues to APHA. All reports help to build a bigger picture and will assist Farmcare in supporting our network of practices to ensure the health and safety of those involved in service delivery, whether that be TB testers on farm or staff back in the practice.
