Herd level bTB reports

New TB breakdowns in herds in the high risk and edge areas will now be sent a comprehensive package of information from APHA that is intended to help them to understand the various risks involved on their farm. This is to replace the in-person DRF visits. Unfortunately APHA have not yet found a way in which the local vet can also receive a copy of this information. Data protection regulations are being cited so it may be worthwhile gathering some letter of permission from your farm clients. At the very least it would be worthwhile encouraging your clients to discuss the information with your team of vets so that you can provide help where possible.

The information pack involves a thorough history of movements and details of other breakdowns and spoligotyping in the area. It’s very useful stuff in the right hands and it would perhaps been even more useful for herds that remain free but are at significant risk! We are told that wider distribution may follow.
